What’s the average day like at summer school?
A summer school day always runs to a packed timetable but still more will come up for you to deal with, and you have to be ready and on your feet to respond to whatever gets thrown at you. Each day gets completely filled but with this you will be challenged, entertained, rewarded and given so much to enjoy.
What have you enjoyed the most about working with Summer Boarding Courses?
I have most enjoyed the team spirit with some fantastic colleagues: you work very closely and intensely together throughout the summer, but everyone is there for the same purpose and is working hard towards it, so it is impossible not to feel a sense of belonging and camaraderie.
What advice would you give a staff member going into their first summer with Summer Boarding courses?
Each day feels very full but they pass very quickly: as much as you will be busy and always wanting to get stuck in, remember to take moments to step back and enjoy being there.
What’s your favourite summer school memory?
My favourite memory has to be walking around the boarding house at the end of the first arrivals day in which it had gone from a decorated, expectant building to a big community, feeling excited to get started with my team.
