Politics

At SBC we believe in inspiring young people to become leaders of tomorrow. Not through  one dogma or political belief system, but by informing young people about how politics functions and the crucial influence of politics as a whole. On both our politics courses students immerse themselves in advanced concepts of political theory, making them feel more capable of discussing and debating complex global issues. Students also take part in exciting research projects to help refine their public speaking skills and overall leadership qualities.

Our Politics Courses

This summer, immerse yourself in the realms of Politics, exploring its core concepts and their impact on global affairs.

All the staff members were amazing

Honestly, Headington was the best thing that happened to me this year, I met so many different people with different cultures. All the staff members were amazing and so nice and supportive , I felt safe and at home here and I’m so sad to be leaving but hopefully I will be back next year

Learning English Through Politics

Summer Boarding Courses’ Politics programmes are designed to teach the English language by taking students on a journey through how politics works. In these courses, English language and political theory are combined together, so that knowledge of both areas are developed simultaneously.

Our Politics programmes have the following four goals:

  • Content: Improving the knowledge and awareness of subject areas.
  • Communication: Working together through a communicative and collaborative approach, with the goal of growing English language proficiency.
  • Cognition: Each of our courses at SBC focus on developing 21st Century Skills, such as collaborative skills, presentation skills, and critical thinking skills.
  • Culture: To create a multicultural learning environment where students can benefit from all the benefits of cross-cultural learning, such as increased creativity, a greater understanding and sensitivity of other cultures, and a love of collaborating with people from diverse backgrounds.

Time to Shine

In all of our Politics and Leadership courses, students work together in small groups to take part in a group presentation called Time to Shine.

During this project, students get to do far more than put their presentation skills to the test, but get to immerse themselves in a lively political scenario, getting a taste of what it is like to take part in a political campaign or a spirited debate. Allowing students the chance to perform in similar roles to what leaders, legislators, advisors, and policy makers do in real life.
