What’s the average day like at summer school?
Average day? I truly don’t think any two days were the same! An ‘average’ day consisted of the students trying new activities, meeting new friends, and overall getting more comfortable with being in a new country. It was heartwarming to see students who were very nervous at first really grow into themselves over the course of their summer, and make some lifelong friends.
What have you enjoyed the most about working with Summer Boarding Courses?
Working with such wonderful people. Having such a great team who really threw themselves into summer school was so great to see. There was so much support and excitement within the team, they all made my summer.
What advice would you give a staff member going into their first summer with Summer Boarding courses?
If the staff are having fun, the students will be having fun!
Make sure to approach everything as a team, and to be as collaborative as possible. This way everyone has a voice into what they will be doing, and some really great, creative activities will flourish.
What’s your favourite summer school memory?
SPLASH DOWN. I didn’t participate in many of the evening events, but I am so glad I decided to go to splashdown. Hands down my favourite summer school memory.
